Cardiff Announces Support for Tablet PC Platform
Out-of-the-box compatibility with Windows XP Tablet PC Edition extends Cardiff LiquidOffice's eForm automation capabilities to a mobile computing environment
San Diego, CA - 2002-11-13 - Cardiff Software Inc., a leading global provider of business process-automation solutions, today announced support for the Tablet PC Platform and out-of-the-box compatibility between Cardiff's Web-based LiquidOffice™ eForm automation solution and the Microsoft® Windows XP Tablet PC Edition®. Cardiff's support of the Tablet PC platform enables current and future users of LiquidOffice to extend its powerful eForm automation capabilities to a mobile computing environment.
The introduction and projected adoption of the Tablet PC platform represents a significant opportunity for form-driven vertical industries to reduce costs by streamlining the way data is collected and processed in the field.
In the November 7, 2002 Gartner FirstTake, research analyst firm Gartner recommends that vendors of the Tablet PC "[f]ocus on vertical industries that heavily use data collection and forms-based applications: healthcare, public safety, homeland security, manufacturing and quality control, consumer packaged goods, government inspection agencies and insurance."
Cardiff LiquidOffice takes advantage of the mobile environment made possible by the Tablet PC platform by enabling remote users to easily fill, submit, route and sign electronic forms directly from the Tablet PC. Cardiff LiquidOffice is able to deliver complete automation of form-driven information transacted on the Tablet PC back to the central office through a standard Web browser. The form can then be electronically routed according to workflow processes for approvals, database updates and automated request transactions. For customer-related orders generated on a Tablet PC, LiquidOffice can also deliver an immediate response back to the Tablet PC showing the order confirmation number and delivery timeframe.
"The Cardiff LiquidOffice eForm solution is a natural fit for the Tablet PC platform since most transactions from remote computing are form-driven reports or requests," said Mark Seamans, chief technology officer of Cardiff Software. "Enabling Tablet PC users to fill in, sign and submit these forms from any location will dramatically reduce processing time and provide faster customer service."
The LiquidOffice user experience on the Tablet PC is delivered through a Web browser and WiFi connectivity that does not require any client software. Making full use of open standards to ensure interoperability and facilitate user adoption, LiquidOffice utilizes established Web-based form technologies, such as HTML, PDF and XML.
